Nomadic Firs – “Into the Fire”

About a minute into the fire, we find our psychedelic trip taking a sudden turn for the sing-along. On the other end is rustic Tennessee pop experimentalist Ryan Boos, and he sounds like the friendliest, most optimistic dude ever. Which makes sense, being part of the Crash Symbols family.”

A fellow musician sent this to me in regards to the record.
“A good night! That’s your album like a dinner in Stockholm in the beginning of May. :)”
1. Forever.
The arrival. Colourful, mysterious, cosy. Long time, no see. Are we outdoors or indoors? Indoors, open window. The carpet crawling up in your lap like a blanket. So good to have you here!
2. Into the Fire.
Sparkling wine. Listening to friend’s latest adventures. A quote: “Getting into that Yoga room at 7 AM, and I smell of alcohol, cigarettes and sex. Feeling healthy.” Giggles and red chins.
3. Vines.
Peeling asparagus and garlic. Boiling water, heating a pan, hard to stand still. Somebody’s juggling with tomatoes.
4. Anytime Clementine.
At the table passing everything around like a merry-go-round. A beautiful mess.
5. In the Morning.
Discussing plants and butterflies. That bumblebee too heavy to fly but still it’s catching the wind. All those kinds of bees! Beehives on roof tops. Soon summertime. Longing.
6. i94.
Taking a break. Having a cigarette. Hearing a secret.
7. Generations.
Making a deep tomato sauce. Baking bread. Tearing mozzarella to pieces, the smell of basil. Eggplants’ amazing colour. Layers of everything. Layers of voices. Are you hungry?
8. Fun.
Fencing on roller skates in the kitchen. Making fluffy meringues. Then fence a little more.
9. Bitter Pills.
Waiting for those meringues. Loud discussions about political issues, gender issues, choices. I’m quite quiet, with big ears. I know what I think, I’m just not that rhetorical, and hey - it’s ok!
10. Cover Bombs.
People calming down. Feeling like hugging the person next to you. Sweet tastes on tongues. How do pineapples grow? Is it a tree or a bush? I miss running to get an encyclopedia. Now there are lots of phones and lots of googling. I like Google. AND encyclopedias.
11. Tellico.
You want to dance? You feel that groove? The sun and the wine is red. Are we going out tonight? Or do we stay here and dance till the sunrise? We can have a bubble bath too!
12. Get the Map.
People are leaving. Hug. Hug. Hug. Hugs. Somebody’s staying. Laughing between the bubbles in the bath tub. Somebody’s telling a goodnight story. Getting sleepy. The biggest pillow.
Love and respect!

Squealer: Nomadic Firs

We usually pride ourselves on new music but May is always a busy month in Brighton and as such we completely overlooked the Nomadic Firs song ‘Cover Bombs’ when it popped up on our screens and stereos back in the build up to release, dismissing it as another alt-pop song for the summer…

BP006 / Varios - Materia Obscura
19/05/2012

After great efforts, shared knowledge and recognition talks with artists, being supported by a lot of great people, recieving good vibes and having decisions made, today we finally decide to let people know about the first compilation that your server, Allan Vizzuett, and its counterpart, Fernando Victoria, release under the name Bad Pop. This is our first encounter with the physical diffusion musical environment: we could not stay only in code and image: we were thirsty for ink and paper … and well, in this case, cassettes as well, so we’re doing this to start producing cassettes on our own so we can keep supporting music also in a physical way.
We are proud to present Materia Obscura, a collection of 16 independent international artists we dig, which aims to inform the desire and appreciation about music, breaking any paradigm in terms of genre or style, ranging from Ambient /Chillwave of contrasting hues both danceable and relaxing, going through a light and delicate  BedroomPop, and ending with a PopPsychRock incites to lose your head. Giving as result a partnership to create and unlimited recreation of a body art /music in this ever-changing médium, Materia Obscura is the first of many physical traces that this label will leve embodied.
We want to thank the support obtained by each and every one of the participants and also the one gotten by some great artists, designers, bloggers and friends of ours: Beat Culture, PARENTZ, Nomadic Firs, Californiño, Vacation, Jason Nolan, Ouisa Hound, Dalliance, -wait, Fonobisa, Miami Daze, Acid Aura, DannielRadall, Pariah Carey, Ender Belongs To Me, Bronson, Steffaloo, Bedroom, Jheri Evans, Dwight & Liz Pavlovic, Ryan & Holly Boos, Mauricio Derbéz, Carla Andrade, Ian Stanley Tyler Andere, Tonje Thilesen, Sam Ray, Carolina Leal, Nueva Bombay, Matinée as Hell, Crash Symbols, Chill Mega Chill, Decoder, Nrmal, Club Fonograma, Rockets Musik, Revista Migala, Laurent Hrybyk and my sweet girlfriend.
